When the fae war against humans and witches, what lurks in the shadows?

 

Eglantine has never left her coven. Duskglenn stands as a sanctuary for witches’ children, but with three days until her eighteenth birthday, if Eglantine can’t prove her mastery of magic runes to her tutor, Mx. Wren, she’ll never graduate to see the outside world.

 

But the forest holds darker threats than a failed exam, as dark shadow children watch her from the trees. Suddenly the world Eglantine knows completely changes. Strange ice magic bursts from her hands without any runes to cause it, and strikes her friend in the chest. 

 

Now the magic tutors are accusing Eglantine of being a monster she’s never heard of and threatening her life, while the shadow children turn everything - and everyone - to ash with just a touch.

 

Eglantine must run for her life, leaving behind the only home she’s ever known in search for answers on what she is, where her strange rune-less magic really comes from, and why these shadow monsters are suddenly out for blood. Somehow it all leads back to the fae, and the mysterious magical massacres eighty years ago that turned humans and magic folk into mortal enemies.
